Frequently Asked Questions
What are the logistics of getting to Ukraine?
Volunteers are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel into Poland.
For an organized Hope For Ukraine volunteer trip, Hope For Ukraine plans the ground transportation from Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport in Poland into Ukraine. Specific pickup instructions and timing are shared with selected participants before the trip.
How do I become a volunteer?
Volunteer opportunities for 2027 are not yet confirmed, and applications are not currently open.
Hope For Ukraine is reviewing the process for future volunteer trips. Once dates and participation details are finalized, this page will be updated with information about how prospective volunteers can be considered.
Are there any requirements for becoming a volunteer?
Participant requirements for future trips are still being reviewed and will be clearly communicated before applications open.
Because volunteer activities may involve packing, carrying, moving, or distributing humanitarian supplies, participants should expect some physical activity. Any specific age, lifting, health, travel documentation, or other participation requirements will be published once they are finalized.
Is traveling to Ukraine safe?
Traveling to Ukraine during an active war carries serious risks. No part of the country should be considered risk-free.
The U.S. Department of State currently lists Ukraine at Level 4: Do Not Travel. Although some areas are farther from active frontline fighting, missile and drone attacks can occur far from the front line and conditions can change quickly.
Hope For Ukraine reviews conditions when planning organized activities, but participating in a volunteer trip requires understanding and accepting the risks associated with travel to a country experiencing active armed conflict.
What is the current situation in Ukraine?
The war remains ongoing and security conditions can change rapidly. Fighting continues in frontline areas, while long-range missile and drone attacks can affect cities and civilian infrastructure far from the front line.
Hope For Ukraine will review current conditions and provide trip-specific information to selected participants as an organized trip approaches.
What logistics does Hope For Ukraine help with, and what do I arrange myself?
Volunteers are responsible for arranging and paying for their own travel into Poland.
For an organized trip, Hope For Ukraine provides ground transportation from Rzeszów-Jasionka Airport in Poland into Ukraine and provides lodging accommodations and meals during the volunteer program.
Final transportation, accommodation, scheduling, and other trip-specific information will be shared with selected participants before travel.
Will every volunteer trip include the same activities?
No. Hope For Ukraine's humanitarian work responds to changing needs on the ground, so each volunteer experience may be different.
The photos on this page show examples from our September 2026 volunteer trip and should not be considered a guaranteed itinerary for future trips.
