10 Years of Impact: A Decade of Humanitarian Action
January 1st, 2026
In 2016, Hope for Ukraine was founded to respond to growing humanitarian needs across the country, with an early focus on improving life for the most vulnerable communities. Families were facing deepening poverty, displacement, and limited access to basic services such as food, education, and healthcare. What began as an effort to support children and families with essential resources quickly grew into a long-term commitment to stand alongside Ukrainian communities through uncertainty and hardship.
As conditions continued to worsen in the years that followed, the scale of need became increasingly clear. Communities were displaced, infrastructure deteriorated, and vulnerable populations—including children, the elderly, and low-income families—were left struggling to meet their most basic needs. Hope for Ukraine worked closely with local partners and families themselves, guided by the belief that effective humanitarian aid must be shaped by the people living the reality of the crisis.
From those early days, Hope for Ukraine developed a community-centered approach to humanitarian aid. Rather than imposing solutions, the organization focused on responding to real and immediate needs—providing food assistance, educational support, health services, and emergency relief with dignity and care. Trust, local partnerships, and accountability became the foundation of every program.
As humanitarian challenges deepened, 2022 marked a significant turning point in the organization’s work. The scale of displacement, trauma, and infrastructure damage required Hope for Ukraine to rapidly expand its efforts. Programs evolved to include refugee shelter, child-focused education initiatives, and energy resilience solutions—such as solar generators and electric cooktops—designed to help families endure extended power outages and harsh winters.
Ukraine’s story is one of resilience in the face of profound hardship, and Hope for Ukraine remains committed to standing alongside its people. What began in 2016 as an urgent response to humanitarian need has grown into a sustained mission to be present on the frontlines of crisis—ensuring families receive not only aid, but dignity, stability, and hope when they need it most.
“When we work with communities, we begin by listening,” said Yuriy Boyechko, CEO of Hope for Ukraine. “We don’t arrive with assumptions. We learn from the people living the reality of the crisis, and we build solutions together.”
For Hope for Ukraine, Ukraine is not simply a place where we deliver aid—it is the heart of our mission. Over the past decade, we have learned to adapt, respond, and grow alongside the communities we serve, building programs shaped by local insight and real needs. Every response is rooted in partnership, trust, and respect for the people behind the statistics.
As humanitarian needs continue and challenges persist, Hope for Ukraine will remain present—responding with compassion, accountability, and action. We invite you to stand with us as this work continues, because lasting impact is only possible when people come together in solidarity.
To date, Hope for Ukraine has helped reach 6.1 million families, delivering more than 101.2 million meals to those struggling with food insecurity. Support for children has remained central to the mission, with 68,774 children receiving educational assistance during a time when schooling and stability were deeply disrupted. Across regions impacted by conflict and displacement, more than 4,048 tons of humanitarian aid have been distributed to meet urgent needs.
As displacement increased, Hope for Ukraine provided shelter for 3,209 refugees, offering safety during moments of profound uncertainty. In response to widespread power outages and damaged infrastructure, 1,100 solar energy resilience kits were distributed to frontline families—helping restore light, warmth, and the ability to prepare meals during extended blackouts.
None of this work would have been possible without the continued support of donors, partners, volunteers, and communities who have stood with Hope for Ukraine over the past 10 years. Your generosity has made it possible to respond in moments of crisis, to adapt as needs changed, and to remain present for families facing unimaginable hardship. As we look ahead, our goal remains the same: to continue helping as many people in Ukraine as possible—providing life-saving aid today while supporting long-term recovery and resilience for the years to come.
