Four years into the war in Ukraine, the numbers are almost hard to process. Nearly 40% of the population — millions of people — are in desperate need of humanitarian aid. Families who had normal lives, jobs, routines, are now struggling to find enough food to get through the week. And the need is not slowing down.
Hope For Ukraine has been on the ground responding to that need directly. Through the Hope Begins With a Meal campaign, we distribute food kits to families living in frontline communities — people in areas where the destruction is ongoing and access to basic necessities is nearly impossible. Last year we delivered thousands of food kits and served hot meals to families who had almost nothing left. This year the goal is bigger because the need is bigger.
Right now we distribute 1,700 food kits every week. We need to get to 2,000. That gap matters more than it sounds.
Each kit costs $25 and feeds a family of four for seven to ten days. That’s one donation, one family, one week of not going to bed hungry. Two kits at $50 covers two weeks. $100 sends a family a kit every week for an entire month. The math is straightforward — and the impact is immediate.
We’re currently at $268,580 of our $350,000 goal, supported by over 2,000 donors who chose to show up for people they’ve never met. We’re close. But close doesn’t feed the families still waiting.
Mother Teresa said it simply — if you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one. That’s all this is. One family. One kit. One week of hope at a time.
If you’ve been thinking about it, now is the time. Donate here and help us reach 2,000 kits a week.
