At Hope for Ukraine (HFU), our Refugees Project stands as a pillar of support for these families during their darkest times. Since the beginning of the war, our center has welcomed and sheltered over 1,300 internally displaced persons (IDPs), with the capacity to house an average of 80 people at a time. Extending beyond Ukraine, we also provide assistance to refugees across Europe and in the United States, proving that compassion knows no borders.
When you donate to Ukraine refugees, you join us in creating safe havens for those who have lost everything. From emergency shelter and food aid to emotional support and long-term community programs, the Refugees Project is committed to restoring dignity and hope for every displaced family.
The Refugee Crisis: Where Families Are Seeking Safety
According to UNHCR estimates, as of January 2025, 5.1 million Ukrainian refugees are living in Europe, while around 270,000 have arrived in the United States under programs such as Uniting for Ukraine (U4U). Unfortunately, the U4U program was suspended earlier this year, leaving thousands at risk of deportation. Within Ukraine itself, over 3.7 million people remain internally displaced, bringing the total number of displaced Ukrainians to nearly 5 million.
These numbers represent more than statistics—they are mothers, fathers, and children seeking security and a chance to rebuild their lives. Through the Refugees Project, Hope for Ukraine works tirelessly to meet both urgent needs and long-term challenges, ensuring no one is left behind.
What Your Support Means
Every contribution to our Refugees Project makes a tangible difference. When you donate to Ukraine, you are helping families find emergency shelter, food, and warmth. Your generosity provides separated children with care, reunification opportunities, and programs designed to help them thrive despite adversity.
Your support also extends beyond survival—it fosters resilience. By offering education, skill-building, and safe spaces, HFU empowers displaced Ukrainians to regain independence and rebuild stronger communities. Whether through financial support or choosing to volunteer in Ukraine, you play a crucial role in restoring hope where it is needed most.
Stories of Strength and Resilience
Behind every donation and volunteer effort is a story of transformation. In our Lviv center, we recently supported 120 displaced families with winter clothing and food kits, providing comfort in the harshest conditions. Families arrive carrying stories of heartbreak but also of determination: a young mother finding safety for her newborn, or an elderly couple rebuilding community after losing their home.
Our mission is rooted in compassion. As Isaiah 58:10 reminds us: “Feed the hungry, and help those in trouble. Then your light will shine out from the darkness.” Guided by this belief, we continue to serve with dignity and love—because every refugee deserves the chance to begin again.
Hope For Ukraine’s Response
At Hope For Ukraine, we are responding to these urgent challenges through programs designed to bring both immediate relief and long-term stability:
-
Mental Health Support: Expanding access to psychosocial services for children and families in distress.
-
Food Assistance: Delivering regular meal kits to displaced and vulnerable families.
-
Shelter Repair & Resilience: Supporting home repairs, providing solar kits, and restoring essential infrastructure.
-
Children’s Programs: Organizing safe camps, events, and activities to give children moments of joy, healing, and normalcy.
Every act of support helps restore dignity and stability to families caught in the middle of war.
